A number of types of specific symptoms are known for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), and the main symptoms are social skills deficit, impairment of verbal and nonverbal communication (particularly in developmental language disorders), bizarre and stereotyped behaviors. Major characteristic is a markedly restricted repertoire of activities and interests, but the disorder’s manifestations differ according to the developmental age and chronological age. This paper will explain in more detail the characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorders and it will enable understanding which areas of development are affected, i.e. how it works. The research in this paper will focus on two areas of child development, which are closely related to each other: perceptual-motor skills development and playing skills development. The aim of this study was to determine whether there is an association between the development of perceptual-motor skills and playing skills development in children of typical development and children with disorders from the autism spectrum of preschool age. For the purposes of the research, three tests were used, which with specific tasks and activities question the development of the mentioned areas, Mullen, ADOS-2 and AEPS. The study will be conducted on a sample of 30 children, 15 children of typical development and 15 children with PSA, aged 2.5 to 4 years. This paper will try to provide answers to two questions, Whether there is a connection between the development of perceptual-motor skills and the development of playing skills in preschool children? and Whether children with PSA show deviations in the development of perceptual-motor skills compared to children of typical development? In the chapter discussions and results it will be possible to see that the assumptions of the research have been confirmed. |
