Popis: | Both normal and immune spleen cells transferred to clean, syngeneic recipient rats induce an accelerated antibody response to challenge infection. However, only the immune spleen cells induce marked protection against challenge with viable P. berghei parasites. Pretreatment of the normal or immune donor rats with cyclophosphamide markedly depletes their spleens. However, such pretreatment affects neither the fluorescent antibody response to challenge in the recipient rats nor the protection-inducing potential of the residual spleen cell population. |
