Synthesis and characterization of the chiral iron secondary methoxycarbene [Fe(C5Me5)(CO)(PMePh2)(CHOMe)][SO3CF3]

Popis: The chiral iron secondary methoxycarbene [Fe(C 5 Me 5 )(CO)(PMePh 2 )(CHOMe)][SO 3 CF 3 ]( 10 can be conveniently made by direct O -alkylation of the isolated neutral iron formly Fe(C 5 Me 5 )(CO)(PMePh 2 )-(CHO) ( 9 ). This procedure appears efficient to prepare 10 , since the trityl salt [Ph 3 C][PF 6 ] reacts with the methoxymethyl complex Fe(C 5 Me 5 )(CO)(PPh 3 )(CH 2 OMe) ( 2 ) to give the thermally unstable methylene complex [Fe(C 5 Me 5 )(CO)(PPh 3 )(CH 2 )][PF 6 ] ( 4 ).
