Abstrakt: The article discusses a study which analyzed the language-related value judgment about French language learning and the associated attitudes, beliefs, motivations and emotions of language learners in Saarland, Germany. In Saarland, community schools promote the learning of the language of its neighbor by means of the compulsory French language course for those students who have chosen English as their first foreign language.
