Abstrakt: The article looks at a study which discusses the role of hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated 2 (HCN2) ion channels in chronic pain by showing in a mouse model of diabetic neuropathy. It mentions pharmacological or genetic block of HCN2 activity exerts potent analgesic effects in animal models of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. It also mentions intracellular cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), is increased in somatosensory neurons in an animal model of painful diabetes.
