The implementation of sustainable and efficient mobility systems in big cities is a challenge due to the recent boom in the population increase. Shared bike systems have been pointed as a promising solution to diminish the pollution and mitigate the traffic rush. The major problem regards on where to allocate the bike stations. These systems can be modeled as a complex network of interconnected bike stations. This paper aims to propose a network science-based model to assign bike stations in a shared bike system. We validate our model in an already implemented shared bike system running in Recife/PE/Brazil. We observed from the results that our proposal diminished 33% the average distance for the population to reach the nearest bike station. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER] |
