Abstrakt: Protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs) are cysteine-dependent enzymes that play a central role in cell signaling. Organic hydroperoxides cause thiol-reversible, oxidative inactivation of PTP1B in a manner that mirrors the endogenous signaling agent hydrogen peroxide.
