An ethical analysis of the moral writings of the late Edward John Carnell, former president and professor of ethics and philosophy of religion at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. Carnell is viewed as one of a handful of mid-twentieth century evangelicals who sparked a renaissance of the evangelical concern for both individual salvation and the social order that typified many of the nineteenth century American revivalists. Carnell synthesized nineteenth century American revivalism, Kierkegaardianism, and Niebuhrianism, while holding to the ethical authority of the Bible and the life of Jesus Christ. |
