Powerful concentrations of mass media in the hands of Western countries are believed to shape a lasting picture of Islam and Muslims, most of it reflecting the interests of the society servedby the media. However, the complexities and dynamics of global news reporting have weakened those arguments. This is because transnational news services, such as the BBC World News (BBCWN), CNN International (CNNI) and Al-Jazeera English (AJE), are believed to represent competing paradigms and different approaches to news. In addition, Through communications cross-traffic in today's global media, varieties of views and voices are thought to enter frame and challenge the dominant common sense in the realm of public discourse.
