This book presents a description of the illative grammatic case along with its forms and functions in two languages, Estonian and Finnish, with the emphasis on cognitive grammar. The book primarily focuses on the forms of the illative case, using the concepts of categorization and distribution in description of allomorphy. It also takes into consideration the development of illative forms in the process of standardisation of both concepts. The book argues that the concepts of cognitive grammar are helpful when dealing with some traditional morphological topics and when describing the morphology of both languages. |
