Popis: The book contributes to the history of modern urban and regional planning. It mainly focuses on eco-friendly tendencies where the concept of organic modernity serves as an overarching framework. The text starts with the beginnings of modern Czech urban and regional planning. Then it describes its transformation in the interwar period and examines eco-friendly studies and concepts produced during World War II as well as changes resulting from the introduction of the Communist system of planning and construction. It finally examines a theoretically and practically rich decade of 1960s, ending with the year 1968. The book shows that eco-friendly tendencies in Czech and Slovak urban and regional planning not only come in many forms and variations but also build on deep traditions.
