Politics needs money. Sometimes more, sometimes less, but it always needs money. This is a fact that cannot be ignored nor underestimated. Politicians therefore need to ensure funds for their activities. At the same time, the legal order and other normative systems, especially in a political culture, should endeavour to prevent abusive funding in the broadest sense of the word. The aim is to ensure that money does not come from criminal activity and that politics does not merely become an extended level of corruptive business practices. Simply, politics should plead Vespasianus'adage that “Money does not stink” (Pecunia non olet). The proceedings demonstrate the tension that accompanies the financing of political life in the Czech Republic and abroad. The contributors try to find out what rules can help to regulate the financing of politics. The proceedings aim at those interested in law, politics and financing. |
