The article describes the digital preservation context and the main steps at the origin of Polo archivistico della Regione Emilia-Romagna (ParER): functional requirements and theoretical models, based on the OAIS model. It provides the analysis of ParER preservation system with particular attention for its architectural and functional components. The article also highlights the quality and the quantity of services implemented to SUl)port the digital preservation for the other public bodies (municipalities, provinces and hospitals) in Emilia.
