Abstrakt:	The author describes a traditional Eastern training experience within a Western internship framework. The importance of the Insitute of Conservation/Heritage Lottery Fund internship as a transition point between study and employment is highlighted. She credited the internship for providing her with a learning opportunity and changing her understanding of the way in which conservation training can be approached. The author shares her experience of training in the conservation of Eastern pictorial art at the British Museum.
