Abstrakt: The article discusses management of public libraries and administration of its finances in the face of economic crisis. It focuses on the steps undertaken to operate within a limited budget with reference to the measures adopted during the Great Depression including employees' lay-off, reduced hours and services and deferment of projects. A change in the cutback process by collaboration with private sector to prioritize public interest over profit is suggested.
