The rules for description in Harriman's Newspaper Cataloging Manual are compared to those found in Chapter 1 (General Rules for Description) and Chapter 12 (Serials) of AACR2, and the pertinent Library of Congress rule interpretations that have appeared in Cataloging Service Bulletin.
