The Auraria Library administration determined that the facility needed to be rewired to accommodate emerging electronic technologies in order to take full advantage of the campus-wide, fiber-optic, network. In requesting a grant for this project, it became evident that the technical services area, in particular, needed to be renovated and reorganized in addition to being rewired. This article reports on the physical and philosophical factors that were considered to accomplish these goals. Future trends in technical services are discussed along with some general information on wiring technology and building design. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER] |
