Abstrakt: | An essay is presented on Jeremy Maas' Victorian book collection. It offers a brief profile of Maas who was reportedly acknowledged as the prime mover in the rediscovery and reevaluation of Victorian painting, and discusses his book collection which include "The Deserted Village," by Oliver Goldsmith, "Sakontala," by Monier Williams, and "The Sabbath," by James Grahame. The author concludes that Maas' collection is a crucial lynch pin in his artistic development. |
