Abstrakt: The author analyzes several contemporary Portuguese children's literature that portray a major event in the history of Portugal in the 20th century. The books written by Paula Cardoso de Almeida and illustrated by Carla Nazareth such as "Anos de Ditadura-Salazar" and "A Luta pelas Colonias-Guerra do Ultramar" have text and images that recreate several decades of Portuguese history. Meanwhile, Jorge Ribeiro's "La longe onde o sol castiga mais-a Guerra Colonial contada aos mais novos" is a compilation of war memories.
