The article focuses on the newsletter called Commonwealth Fortnightly, located at http://libinfo.uark.edu/specialcollections/commonwealth/fornightly.asp., established by Commonwealth College in Mena, Arkansas. It states that the newsletter offer valuable information regarding the labor college including its social activities, curriculum information, and community relations initiatives. It mentions that the University of Arkansas Department of Communication Professor Stephen A. Smith helped for the digitization of the newsletter. It also offers information on the history of Commonwealth College particularly during the time that labor college faced student-staff revolt in 1931 which resulted to leadership change and its closure in 1940 due to shattered finances. |
