The author discusses ways on how information industry service personnel should approach library vendors. She mentions that as the information technology sector finds it difficult to introduce innovative products and alternative business models, vendor executives tend to look for cheaper versions of products. She stresses the need to design strategies which can help determine the future of the sector. Also described are discovery services of library vendors, such as ProQuest/Serials Solutions' Summon. |
