Abstrakt: The article focuses on the role of dogs in agriculture. It states that the best available scientific evidence points to the existence of a dog-human relationship for at least 14,000 years. Dogs live with Native Americans for thousand of years prior to first Europeans introduction of their own breeds to the New World. It mentions that Christopher Columbus brought dogs, and dogs lived with colonists at Jamestown and Massachusetts Bay. It discusses that dogs went west with the pioneers and became commonplace on farms and ranches as the country was settled. These dogs were all-around farm dogs, herding dogs and more recent in the U.S., livestock guardian dogs.
