Abstrakt: The article provides information on the development of Louisiana State Library's building. In 1903, John Hill donated a new library building for the university to honor his son who died due to the destruction of the old building during Civil War. In 1925, the State Library of Louisiana was born the Louisiana Library Commission. As the agency grew, its functions were housed in multiple locations. After Louisiana State University campus's moved in 1940, the State Library took over the former Hill Memorial Library. In 1958, a new white marble Louisiana State Library building with floor space measurement of 80,000 square feet has opened its door in 1958 at 760 North Third Street. Moreover, the year 1999 marked the rebirth of the library with its well designed and constructed building.
