Abstrakt: Bibliographic instruction has been an integral part of the activities of the Music Library. Although many such programs have elements of information literacy within them, they do not directly undertake all aspects of teaching students the critical-thinking aspect of information literacy. Rather, too many times, the "one-shot" approach is taken. This article discusses the importance to music libraries of locally defining information literacy and new accreditation standards that address life-long learning and critical thinking. Compelling reasons to develop programming and examples of what that programming might look like are given, particularly in comparison with more traditional bibliographic instruction. Lastly, there is brief discussion of the question, "Does information literacy look different for the music student?" [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
