The article provides information on the possible installation of nuclear-tipped anti-ballistic missiles (ABM) in Westchester, Illinois. The ABM site, which would be installed in the village limits, was among the five in the Chicago metropolitan area where the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has initiated test borings for the selection of a Sentinel ABM launch site. The ABM defense was to be deployed against the future Chinese missiles in mid-November which posed potential hazards to residents living near the site. Research physicist at Argonne National Laboratory noted the arrival of the sentinel and tipped the Chicago press of what was coming. |
