The article reports that this fall, several more leading university libraries in the Pacific Rim area have signed contracts to install Innovative Interfaces Inc.'s INNOPAC automated library system to replace their older library systems. In Australia, both the Australian National University in Canberra and the University of Western Australia in Perth have just signed contracts with Innovative to replace their existing URICA systems with INNOPAC. In September, Massey University in New Zealand became the first university in the country to install INNOPAC, replacing a VTLS system. Last month in Hong Kong, Lingnan College installed INNOPAC, becoming the second INNOPAC system user in Hong Kong. In Bangkok, Thailand's leading university, Chulalongkorn University will install INNOPAC in January 1994. Chulalongkorn's INNOPAC system will contain more than 200,000 records entirely in Thai characters, as well as the English language Thai Information Center Database. In the U.S., the University of Washington in Seattle has replaced its GEAC system with INNOPAC. |
