Focuses on the dispute between Thomas Baker, Deputy Remembrancer and Receiver of First Fruits and Tenths, and the Trustees for the Maintenance of Ministers for the control of ecclesiastical tax collection in Great Britain during the mid-1650s. Issuance of a warning to clergy that first fruits were payable to Baker alone in November 1655; Actions taken by the Trustees to prevent payments being made to the First Fruits Office; Allegations raised by the clergy against Baker to obtain the records of the Office from him. |
