Early pregnancy loss, or miscarriage, is the most common complication in pregnancy, affecting one in four pregnancies. Patients who experience early pregnancy loss need access to medical care, to make decisions about medical management, and to cope with grief, trauma, and uncertainty. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG)'s Women's Health website supports its mission as a professional women's health organization, which in part is to provide information to members of the public. ACOG has published information resources on early pregnancy loss, including frequently asked questions, obstetrician-gynecologist-authored articles on treating and coping with early pregnancy loss, and patient stories. These resources are written in plain language at a 6th-grade reading level, searchable by browsing and searching, and linked to external resources including support organizations and local doctors, including specialists.
