The Historical Archive of the Banco di Napoli is unique worldwide for the wealth of banking sources it preserves. Consisting Of approximately 300 rooms, the Archive provides the researchers coming to the Study room documents that span from the second half of the 15005 to the present day. It holds records of the eight public banks that arose between the 1500s and 1600s in Naples. With the decree of November 29, 1819, issued by Ferdinando di Borbone, it was ordered that all documents of the banks be gathered in Palazzo Ricca, which became the "General Archive". later transforming, in 1950, into the "Historical Archive". Subsequently, documentation from the Banco delle Due Sicilie (established in 1809 by Murat) was also added, which, with the unification of Italy. was renamed Banco di Napoli (from 1861).
