This article provides news and notes related to cataloging in the United States as of May 1, 2005. Held July 28-30, 2003, the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions Meetings of Experts on an International Cataloguing Code in Frankfurt am Main, Germany was the first in a series of regional meetings with cataloguing experts around the world for the purpose of discussing both the basic principles of cataloguing. On January 9, 2004, the ALCTS Directors of technical Services of Large Research Libraries held its annual conference during the Midwinter American Library Association Meeting in San Diego, California. One of the highlights of the ALCTS conference was a discussion of international MARC records initiated by various academic and information specialists. |
