Amber Chen's "Of Jade and Dragons" is a YA novel that draws inspiration from ancient Asian history and combines genres like historical romance, thriller, and fantasy. LaDarrion Williams's "Blood at the Root" is a YA fantasy novel that incorporates Southern culture and a Black cast into the magical school trope. K.A.
