Abstrakt: Library management is customarily treated in two ways: a matter of common sense, or a skill learned through experience. Few attempts have been made to apply the theories of management to libraries. The practicing librarian expects the product of the library schools to be able to administer and manage both staff and techniques. Within the compass of the two-year course and the one-year postgraduate course, a grounding in management skills can be established. The future requires knowledge of the more advanced skills of management if libraries are to make the most satisfactory use of money, staff and buildings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
