This paper describes a small-scale project that was undertaken at University College, Cardiff (UK), to produce an electronic model of the shelving capacity and stock complement of the science library. The aim of the project was to produce statistical information for immediate management needs and to facilitate the management of shelf space in any future reorganization of the library's stock.
