The authors present a case study of the creation and running of specialized sectoral information systems at three information institutes-tsintikhimneftemash, informelektro, and tsniteipriborostroeniya. They describe work on automated information systems and the improved services in the industries concerned due to the introduction of these systems. A number of characteristics are given of the systems, 'asntikhimmash', 'elektrotekhnika', 'elektrotekhnicheskie izdeliya', and 'referat'. The sectoral institutes are taking part in work on international information systems in the fields of their respective concern.
