The authors are concerned with observation of the development trends and propaganda orientations in the field of welding. The method and findings of an experiment are described, as carried out on a file of 23,000 documents. The approach to using information sources for forecasting purposes suggested in the paper is viewed as a further elaboration of the up-to-date modes of information service in science and engineering.
