| Abstrakt: |
This paper reviews the history of the development of the Patent Information Network in Great Britain. The work of the Patent Office in 1854 in terms of free distribution of patent information is studied. The formation of the British Library in 1974 resulted in its taking over of the distribution of patent literature to public libraries. The establishment of the Patents Information Network in 1980 is also examined. A review of the patent system in 1985 is studied, as are its conclusions which lead to the elimination of seven smaller libraries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
