Developed by the Japan Science and Technology Corporation (JST), the PoLyInfo polymer database aims to support polymeric materials design. Since the relations among polymer data items are so complicated, it has been difficult to construct a database for materials design that is required to provide comprehensive and precise polymer data. In order to cope with the problem, JST adopted the object-oriented technique to analyze polymer data, and then designed the database on the basis of the results of the analysis.
