The chief knowledge officer (CKO) plays a pivotal role in creating and supporting the knowledge culture in organizations. CKO is a title manufactured in the last decade, and the number of them began to grow in the late 1990s. Yet a recent study shows there are fewer than 100 individuals with the actual title of CKO, earning salaries ranging from $80,000 to $750,000 and upward in US dollars per year.
