The experience of the 'orientir' ir system is described. The system serves to increase the automated data bank, improve the precision ratio of the information retrieval, reduce the time of service, and help upgrade the hardware used. In the future the system is expected to be used for retrospective searches jointly with the all-union intersectoral system of welding information now under development (a cooperative project of viniti and the paton electrical welding institute). The design and operation experience with this system may prove useful in developing similar systems in other subject areas. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
