Abstrakt: The project was carried out to implement a network monitoring system to establish the baseline of optimal performance and to know the status of devices, links, resources and services that make up the computer network infrastructure of the UFPS Cúcuta and Campos Elíseos headquarters. The first step was to gather information about the network infrastructure, which allowed defining the needs and requirements to be met by the monitoring tool. Subsequently, the most appropriate tool was determined, and the monitoring system was designed and implemented. Finally, tests and adjustments were carried out to validate and verify the implemented solution and the installation, configuration and administration manuals for the monitoring system were prepared to guide the unit in charge of these procedures. These activities were developed under the PPDIOO (Prepare, Plan, Design, Implement, Operate and Optimize) methodology proposed by Cisco. The project's development contributes to improving the availability of the data network at UFPS, since, by alerting and notifying the network administrator immediately, he/she can act quickly in case of an eventuality. It also contributes as a tool to improve the mathematical model that supports the computer network of the UFPS for its continuous study according to changing needs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
