The article discusses the lifetime and properties of polymer UV films. The use of a UV filter as protection against UV radiation has become an integral part of the conservation of archive and library funds. The damage caused by light and particularly by its highest-energy, i.e. ultraviolet component, is usually very extensive and, unfortunately, most often irreparable. The most common means of employing UV filters is to install them on window glass or on light sources, which do not already have UV filtering. For use in exhibitions, a suitable arrangement can be employed directly for the exhibition cases, or a sensitive object on display can be covered individually. |
