The article reports on certain major conferences on human geography. The U.S. Bureau of the Census inaugurated its Annual Research Conference series in 1985 to provide an open forum for the discussion of Bureau-related research questions. Of particular interest to geographers was the session on "Improving National Population Projection Methodology." A NATO Advanced Studies Institute on dynamics of spatial systems was held in Hanstholm, Denmark, on August 3-14, 1985. The conference, attended by some 75 researchers in the fields of geography, economics, statistics, mathematics, and physics, focused on the mathematical modeling of phenomenon with spatial and temporal components. |
