Recovery from a disaster is always a difficult process. But what happens when a second disaster befalls the library soon after the recovery from one is completed? In February and May 2020, the Ensor Learning Resource Center suffered this fate. Because of deferred maintenance and lack of oversight, large scale leaks caused major damage to the same area of the building twice in three months. Recovering from a disaster, especially as part of a larger organization, is never easy with pitfalls aplenty, but it can be done if you are patient and work within (and sometimes, without) your organization. This column focuses on efforts, communication & leadership strategies, and provides advice for those who may ever find themselves in this situation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
