Abstrakt: The article sums up the results of a three-day lecture organized in October 2016 in Munich. The meeting dealt with the various impacts, the Nazi seizure of power had on the Archives of the Bavarian State, their staff and their work. It reflects the role of the heads of the agency, but also the fate of Fritz Gerlich, one of the first victims of the Nazi terror in Germany. Very important consequences of Nazi ideology and Nazi politics were the massive expansion of genealogical research, the participation of the Archives in the expropriation of the Jewish population and the loss of archival holdings as a result of area bombing in World War II.
