Abstrakt: The article focuses on a research which concerns the effectiveness of the decision table and tree in the user interface. The comparison of graphs and decision tables in their effect on interpretation accuracy, their performance in the user interface and studies on graphs and their effects on decision-making are also evaluated. The decision table and decision tree are essential tools for systems analysts. These decision aids are used by systems analysts in depicting conditional logic for programmers and in validating this logic with the user. Many authors recommend the decision table and tree as useful aids in decision making. Four different research propositions are described. The effect of independent variables such as cognitive style, ability and background should be considered in comparison of table and tree. Methodology and experimental design using t-test and the analysis of covariance is discussed. Software engineering needs to test the generic tools and methods in experimental and field situations and keep pace with the innovation and prescription of decision tables and trees.
