The article discusses the progress of Geisinger Memorial Hospital Medical Library, of the Geisinger Health System, in Danville, Pennsylvania, since its establishment in 1927. In 1987, the Geisinger Medical Center Medical Library subscribed to 635 journals and in early 1990's, it invested in electronic resources. The electronic table of contents alerts (ETOCS) program, offered by seventy-nine electronic journals (e-journals) in early 2001, was a huge success. Several achievements and changes in the ETOCS program, are discussed. Tips for implementing a successful ETOCS program are also included. |
