| Popis: | An experimental investigation is described In which the mechanism of horseshoe vortex formation upstream of cylinders mounted on an endwall has been studied in a series of detailed experiments. The aim of the study was to investigate the Influence of the cross-sectional shape of the cylinder on the instantaneous and time-averaged behaviour of the vortices. A secondary aim was to provide a reliable and comprehensive set of fluid flow data which could be used to validate computational solutions for this practically important and complex problem. |
