This is a qualitative study on how unaccompanied youth are described by support persons, about how the asylum context are affecting the youth. The purpose of this study is to increase the understanding of how these support persons can see how the asylum context affects and experienced for young people, who have been forced to leave their family and home in the wish of a better future in a foreign country. The study investigates if and how legal guardians, contact persons at homes for Care and Housing and social workers, are working to strengthen and support the youth to cope with the reception system in a new country. The study uses semi-structured interviews with participants about their experience and understanding of the ways there youths are treated, by the government and society. The focus of the study is to identify how the support person knowledge about the situation for youth and how it can be understood from a SOC, Sense of Coherence perspective, how he or she is emphasizing the feelings of comprehensibility, manageability and meaningfulness. The result shows that the youth needs backing and support to manage there situation in a new context. The youth needs people that are willing to speak for their rights and are not afraid to do so. |
