| Popis: | Elmarknaden är en grundpelare för det svenska samhällets funktion och utveckling. Under 2022 blev elmarknaden central i den politiska debatten till följd av Rysslands invasion av Ukraina, vilket bidrog till skenande elpriser i Sverige och inom EU. För att minska beroendet av Ryssland och dess resurser föreslog EU en ökad prioritering av förnybar el. Därutöver har Sverige som långsiktigt energipolitiskt mål att 2040 ha en 100 procent förnybar elproduktion. Förväntningarna på de förnybara energikällorna är höga men frågan är om de är möjliga att uppnå? Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka och analysera Sveriges elmarknad med fokus på förnybar el samt undersöka förutsättningarna för en utveckling av förnybar elproduktion. Marknadsanalysen genomförs utifrån Structure-Conduct-Performance modellen. Marknadsanalysen har utförts med kvantitativ och kvalitativ metod för att skapa en övergripande förståelse för elmarknaden. Utifrån insamlad empiri observerar vi att den svenska elmarknaden är uppdelad i överföring av el och handel med el, där den sistnämnda i sin tur består av elproduktion och elhandel. Marknadsanalysen visar hur strukturen ger upphov till olika marknadsformer samt de olika aktörernas beroende av varandra för att uppfylla marknadens funktion. De marknadsformer som identifierats är oligopol för elproduktion, monopol för överföring av el och till sist fullständig konkurrens för elhandel. Undersökningen av de grundläggande förutsättningarna visade på tydliga skillnader gällande möjligheterna för förnybar elproduktion i Sveriges fyra elområden i form av installerad effekt och överföringskapacitet. Utifrån företagens strategi och utfallet på marknaden kan vi konstatera att det finns en vilja att utveckla den förnybara elproduktionen men i vissa fall motarbetar institutionella regleringar och etableringshinder utvecklingen. The electricity market is a keystone for the Swedish society’s function and development. The market became a central part of the political debate during 2022, as a consequence of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which contributed to rising prices in Sweden and in the EU. To reduce the dependency on Russia and its resources, the EU suggested an increased prioritization of renewable energy. Moreover, Sweden has a long-term energy policy target to reach 100 percent renewable electricity production in 2040. The expectations for renewable energy resources are high, however, the question is if they are reachable? The purpose of this composition is to research and analyze the Swedish electricity market, with a focus on renewable electricity and to examine the conditions for development of renewable electricity production. The market analysis is carried out with the Structure-Conduct-Performance model. The market analysis is performed with quantitative and qualitative methods to provide an overall comprehension for the electricity market. From gathered empirical data we observe the Swedish electricity market to be divided into transmission of electricity and electricity trade, where the latter include both electricity production and trading. The market analysis clearly shows a three parted division with each part having a different market form. Oligopoly for production of electricity, monopoly for transmission of electricity and lastly perfect competition for electricity trade. Moreover, the different parties on the market have a strong dependency on each other to fulfill the function of the market. The examination of the basic conditions showed clear differences regarding the conditions for the production of renewable energy in Sweden’s four electrical areas in terms of installed effect and transmission capacity. Furthermore, when taking a look at companies’ conducts and results on the market we discovered there’s a will to develop the renewable electricity production. However, in certain cases institutional regulations and barriers to establishment counteract the development. |
