In the scope of developing a framework to perform nearfield acoustic imaging in bounded environments, the behavior of free-field methods in the presence of a reflecting surface has been explored. Intensive parametrization has been operated on the variables defining the system, and the forward propagation of the pressure field has been performed both with a plane wave synhtesis and a wave field extrapolation method. The insights gained both from the synthesis of the field and from its reconstruction can directly be applied to inverse imaging techniques, determining lower error bounds and providing conservative limits about the performance of the methods. Moreover, a set of MEMS pressure transducer has been analyzed to determine its suitability for the use in nearfield imaging procedures. |
